Faded
There was a time when everything I needed or wanted was in one sweet, soft, passion-filled touch of the lips. Of course, everything fades.
The day my heart left was dark, gray and filled with nothing more than the dead, haunted souls of lovers past. As the limp clouds rolled their way over the piercing, razor-sharp mountain tops, hushed sighs, soft breathing, and the sound of my heart's slow ever lessnening beats was all that was audible.
Our hearts left, but never once did they fail to return to eachother. We loved with a love no one knew or could possibly understand. We loved with a love that was oh so simple yet frustratingly complicated when tested to explain. We were you and me and we loved, oh how we loved.
That final day, that day our hearts returned for the final time to say the frightening goodbyes we dreaded.
You left my side, not because you yearned to or because you no longer loved. No, because you had to, because life as we knew it could not possibly go on, you needed to leave.
